Greetings from the Youth Minister!
We just got back from the eighth grade Confirmation Retreat and I was so
thankful for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Please pray for these eighth
graders as they venture into High School. Also, please be the examples they
need to follow and welcome them- give them that sense of belonging they seek
after so they don’t follow the wrong path. Thanks.
Is this the MAY newsletter and calendar???
Graduation time? Stephen is sending out his announcements- boy is that surreal?
To see him in a cap and gown makes me feel faint. When we first came to St.
Ignatius, he was 5 years old. Milestones are so important for us
(not just to mark every 5,280 feet). Without them we don’t know how far we’ve
gone. The events in our lives show us our accomplishments and give us our
bearings to judge by. As I look at the growing wrinkles around my eyes, I
ponder at what I’ve been blessed to behold. When I take my shoes off at night
and rub my aching feet, I think about all the places I’ve walked and the
impressions I’ve left behind. It is sobering to recount all the minutes that
God has blessed me with that are now gone forever. Now with that greater
understanding and renewed gift of counsel, I walk on- hopefully past several
more milestones- to more graduations and anniversaries and birthdays and
Confirmations and First Communions and dare I say, Weddings. With hopefully
more wrinkles and aches to come as I travel. Let us continue to support one
another as we journey in Faith. So many different experiences await us with One
Common Goal. As I say so often, “I look forward to it…”
We have a crazy packed and fun filled
month. Our last Jr. Life Teen Game Night
is Friday the 2nd from
Life Teen:
St. Mary’s Home Play Day is Saturday
the 3rd from after 8am Mass- Noon. Still free drinks after, so
please set your alarm and join us!!
I will also need some help selling carnations for the Alabama Citizens for Life during all the Masses that weekend.
We are having a special treat on Sunday
the 18th- The Bluegrass Boys are playing in the Frassati Center
after Mass. Come and enjoy a great night of music and food.
The Life
Teen Senior Pool Party is Thursday May 22nd
I had a dream that we had to add on to the
Frassati Center because it was just too small to accommodate all the people in
the youth group- I would like to make that a reality- I have a renewed
enthusiasm to go after the teens who do not come to Life Teen- not just because
I confidently feel it would be beneficial for them, but for all of us- Christ’s
Body. He calls us to Communion- to mirror the unity of the Trinity- it is also
easier to live a holy life when you are being supported. To break one little
twig is easy, to try and break a hand full of twigs is nearly impossible. Let
us bind ourselves together to grow closer to God. So you may get a personal
invite from me if I haven’t seen you in a while J. Peace, Todd
