Stewardship of Treasure

“Stewardship of treasure is not about giving to a need; rather a need to give. The results of this need to give allows us to build up the Body of Christ at our parish. “ Rev. Stephen E. Martin, Pastor |

“In the last eighteen months we have sensed a revival of that old St. Ignatius fervor, and perhaps, it is a sign that as a parish we are ready to be re-energized and once again be challenged Tithing is simply doing our ‘little bit’. But repeated over again by all of us… well, you know what can happen.”

The chart below describes how your gifts of treasure are directed for the betterment of our the St. Ignatius community.

A Message for Heather and Joe Schultz Several years ago Heather and I participated in a Biblical financial study. Over ten weeks we read scripture, memorized passages, completed the study guide questions and assignments. It was a lot of hard work, but the return on the investment was well worth it. We gained a deeper understanding that all of our possessions belong to God.
Now, each week when we put the envelope in the collection basket it is a reminder of 1 Chronicles 29:11-12. This passage tells us that everything belongs to God and it is at His discretion that we are able to have the lifestyle we do. Consistent, premeditated giving brings us to a closer intimacy with Christ; “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Matthew 6:21.
Secondly, our human nature has a tendency toward selfishness; but with regular giving, our character gets a little improvement each week. Luke16:11 gives a direct warning, “If therefore you have not been faithful in the use of worldly wealth, who will entrust the true riches to you” with the true riches being the reward of Heaven.
While our children do not attend St. Ignatius School, they participate in CCD classes, enjoy CYO sports and have a close connection to St. Ignatius. They may not attend classes Monday through Friday, but St. Ignatius is very much their school and church.
We give to St. Ignatius to help support our church, to ensure a good environment for the passing on of the Catholic faith to our children, but mainly so our children are raised in a environment of giving so that one day we can all reap the Heavenly reward.
Sincerely, Joe and Heather Schultz |
